Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms

Legendary Creature — Human Samurai · {4}{R}{R} · Red commander

Whenever Gilgamesh enters or attacks, look at the top six cards of your library. You may put any number of Equipment cards from among them onto the battlefield. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. When you put one or more Equipment onto the battlefield this way, you may attach one of them to a Samurai you control.

What a Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms deck needs

Plays as samurai typal. What the commander asks of the other 99 — read from the card and checked by hand.

• Equipment (its entry and attack put them from the top six onto the battlefield)
• Samurai to carry them

The Gilgamesh, Master-at-Arms deck plan

The roles the Forge fills for this commander, and how many cards of each.

• 6× Put haste on the commander the turn it resolves — a tap ability is unusable otherwise
• 6× Exile a permanent you control and return it — the button a value-ETB deck presses
• 22× Equipment and Auras — the things a suit-up commander's trigger and plan are actually made of
• 10× A body of the exact type the commander's trigger requires — the wrong type is worthless here regardless of quality
• 8× A permanent whose value is in its enter-the-battlefield trigger — the payload a blink deck reuses
• 4× Make the commander connect — a body that never deals combat damage never triggers
• 5× Actually remove one problem permanent — preventing its damage is not removing it
• 9× Find the exact card the plan needs
• 1× Answer a whole board at once
