Ghoulcaller Gisa is a sacrifice-drain engine that converts creature deaths into a lethal burst of Zombie tokens and life drain. The deck mills creatures into the graveyard, then chains cheap reanimation spells (Unearth, Animate Dead, Reanimate) to cast them repeatedly. Each creature that enters or dies triggers payoff engines like Ayara, First of Locthwain (drains each opponent for 1 life per entry), Diregraf Colossus (makes a Zombie token per creature spell cast), and Endless Ranks of the Dead (doubles your Zombie count each upkeep). The commander itself sacrifices creatures to make Zombie tokens scaled to their power, turning a single 5-power creature into five tokens that each trigger Ayara again. Across 120 simulated games, the deck wins 62% overall, with 94% of wins coming through combat and burn damage rather than combo.
Fast mana setup: Sol Ring and Dark Ritual deploy early, letting you cast Ghoulcaller Gisa by turn 3 or 4. Graveyard fill: Buried Alive, Entomb, and Stitcher's Supplier mill creatures into your graveyard—Gravecrawler, Carrion Feeder, and payoff creatures like Ayara and Diregraf Colossus. Reanimation chain: Unearth, Animate Dead, and Reanimate cast creatures from the graveyard at a fraction of their mana cost (Unearth costs only {B} and cycles if you don't need it). Each entry triggers Ayara to drain the table for 1 life per opponent. Sacrifice loop: Ashnod's Altar and Carrion Feeder turn creatures into mana or +1/+1 counters. When Gravecrawler dies, Pitiless Plunderer makes a Treasure token, which you tap for {B} to recast Gravecrawler from the graveyard—this loop generates infinite death triggers and infinite Treasure tokens. Token multiplication: Diregraf Colossus and Endless Ranks of the Dead convert your creature spells and Zombie count into exponential token production. Ghoulcaller Gisa's activated ability (tap, sacrifice a creature, make X Zombie tokens where X is that creature's power) turns a single high-power creature into a burst of tokens that each re-trigger Ayara. The kill: the accumulated drain from Ayara, Bontu's Monument (drains 1 per creature spell), and Gray Merchant of Asphodel (drains based on your black devotion) reaches lethal before opponents can stabilize.
