Game Plan

Commander scaling: Gwenom's attack trigger lets you play cards from the top of your library, paying life equal to their mana value instead of their mana cost. High-mana-value payoffs like Vilis, Broker of Blood (8), Razaketh, the Foulblooded (8), and Peer into the Abyss (7) maximize this discount—you pay 8 life to cast an 8-mana dork, but Gwenom's ability means you're casting it for free in terms of mana, only life. The core loop: Sensei's Divining Top taps to draw a card and put itself on top of your library. Cast it from the top by paying 1 life (via Gwenom or Bolas's Citadel). Aetherflux Reservoir triggers, gaining you 1 life for each spell cast this turn. Sheoldred, the Apocalypse triggers, gaining you 2 life per draw. Repeat until your life total is 52 or higher, then activate Aetherflux Reservoir to pay 50 life and deal 50 damage to any target. Tutors and setup: Demonic Tutor and Grim Tutor, plus 2 more tutors find any missing combo piece. Buried Alive puts Walking Ballista and Mikaeus into your graveyard for fast reanimation via Animate Dead or Dance of the Dead. Mana acceleration: Lotus Petal and Mana Vault, plus 2 more ramp pieces enable turn-2 or turn-3 Gwenom. Dark Confidant and Necropotence fuel card selection and life-payment loops.
