Kaalia of the Vast cheats high-impact Angels, Demons, and Dragons onto the battlefield during combat, turning a single attack into a cascade of entry triggers. Dragon Tempest and Scourge of Valkas convert those entries into damage, while Master of Cruelties locks down a single opponent's life total to 1 for an instant kill. The deck tutors its combo pieces with Demonic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, and Idyllic Tutor, then protects the kill turn with Flawless Maneuver and Maze of Ith.
Commander trigger: Kaalia attacks an opponent, and you put an Angel, Demon, or Dragon from your hand onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. That creature enters mid-combat, firing all entry triggers at once. Dragon Tempest engine: When a Dragon enters, Dragon Tempest deals damage equal to the number of Dragons you control. Ancient Gold Dragon enters, rolls a d20, and creates that many 1/1 Faerie Dragon tokens. Each token entry fires Dragon Tempest again, stacking damage until the table is dead. Master of Cruelties lock: Kaalia puts Master of Cruelties onto the battlefield attacking. If unblocked, it sets the defending player's life to 1, then Kaalia deals lethal. Scourge of Valkas: A second Dragon payoff that scales the same way—each creature entry deals damage equal to your Dragon count. Tutors find the pieces: Demonic Tutor, Enlightened Tutor, and Idyllic Tutor search for Dragon Tempest, Scourge of Valkas, or the combo creatures themselves. Rune-Scarred Demon tutors on entry. Protection layer: Flawless Maneuver grants indestructible at instant speed without paying mana if you control a commander. Maze of Ith untaps an attacking creature and prevents its combat damage, letting you attack safely and reuse Kaalia's trigger. Malakir Rebirth and Undying Malice return Kaalia if it dies, dodging the commander tax. Stroke of Midnight: Destroys a nonland permanent and creates a 1/1 Human token, which pairs with Dragon Tempest for a finite but lethal damage burst.
