Game Plan

Spellslinger burn and drain: Tergrid, God of Fright activates repeatedly to force opponents to sacrifice or discard, triggering payoffs like Professor Onyx (which drains 2 per spell cast), Mindcrank (which mills and converts life loss into card mill), and Syr Konrad, the Grim (which deals damage whenever creatures enter the graveyard). Sol Ring, Dark Ritual, and Ashnod's Altar fuel the activation chain; Mind Shatter, Mind Twist, and Torment of Hailfire convert infinite mana into lethal discard and drain.

How It Wins

Fast mana into activation: Sol Ring and Dark Ritual deploy Tergrid by turn 2–3. Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Tower sacrifice creatures to generate mana for repeated Tergrid activations. The drain engine: Each activation forces a sacrifice or discard; Professor Onyx's magecraft trigger (whenever you cast or copy a spell) drains 2 life per activation spell, while Mindcrank converts that life loss into mill, and Syr Konrad punishes each creature entering the graveyard. Compact combo payoffs: Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank creates a self-feeding mill-and-drain loop once Ascension reaches three quest counters; Professor Onyx + Chain of Smog generates infinite magecraft triggers and infinite life drain; Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion deals infinite damage. Tutors and selection: Demonic Tutor, Grim Tutor, Beseech the Queen, and Profane Tutor find combo pieces or mana acceleration on demand. Entomb puts combo creatures into the graveyard for reanimation via Reanimate or Animate Dead, bypassing commander tax.
