Vivi Ornitier scales into a mana engine that fuels instant and sorcery spells, converting each cast into damage via Guttersnipe, Molten-Core Maestro, and Ral, Crackling Wit. The deck chains cheap spells (Ponder, Preordain, Grapeshot) to grow Vivi's power, unlock mana, and trigger payoffs that drain the table.
Vivi's mana loop: Vivi Ornitier taps for X mana (where X is its power) once per turn, and whenever you cast a noncreature spell, it gains a +1/+1 counter and deals 1 damage to each opponent. This creates a scaling engine—each spell grows Vivi, unlocking more mana next turn. Payoff amplifiers: Guttersnipe deals 2 damage per spell cast; Molten-Core Maestro adds red mana equal to its power when you cast a spell with five or more mana spent, and gains counters itself; Ral, Crackling Wit gains loyalty whenever you cast a noncreature spell and can create tokens or draw cards. Free-cast multipliers: Omniscience and Wishing Well let you cast spells without paying mana, turning the spell chain explosive. Melek, Izzet Paragon copies instant and sorcery spells cast from your library, and Grapeshot's storm mechanic multiplies your spell count. Cost reduction: Goblin Electromancer and Electrodominance reduce spell costs, accelerating the chain. Infinite mana outlets: Crackle with Power, Thunder Salvo, Volcanic Geyser, and Electrodominance all scale with X mana or spell count, converting Vivi's grown power into lethal damage. Vadrik, Astral Archmage reduces spell costs by its power, further compressing the chain. Recovery: Wisdom of Ages returns all instants and sorceries from your graveyard to hand, resetting the spell chain mid-game or after a wipe. Archmage's Newt grants flashback to graveyard spells when it deals combat damage, extending your spell options.
